Lateral Water Migration
In most waterproofing
applications, one of the longterm
design concerns is
controlling the lateral
migration of water in the
event that the membrane is
compromised. Some
manufacturers accomplish
this by requiring the use of a
specially installed
containment grid which will
limit lateral water movement
within a (typically) 10 foot
area. Hyload’s Hyproof
membranes offer two
alternative approaches to
solving this issue.
Hyproof SA (Self Adhered) membrane system
Designed for installation on clean, smooth substrates such as concrete or
wood. It is manufactured with an SBS-modified asphalt adhesive coating that
results in 100% adhesion to the substrate upon application. This adhesion
effectively serves to limit the lateral migration of water.
Hyproof SA (Self Adhered) membrane system
Designed to be installed over substrates typically found in repair, retrofit,
or expansion projects. These substrates are commonly contaminated with an
old, existing waterproofing system. The Hyproof GL membrane is installed over
a 12” o.c. grid (a “checkerboard” pattern) of beads of Hyload’s Membrane Adhesive.
The underlying grid of adhesive serves to limit any lateral water movement.
It is the versatility and compatibility of our Membrane Adhesive that allows
it to bond aggressively to the Hyproof membrane, coal tar, and practically
every other commonly seen substrate.
